You can only light fireworks
on your own property
and please exercise caution
if it’s windy
all it takes is one ember
to spark up dry bush
one bushfire has been burning
since last year
and dogs and cats
will go flat under beds
and poor startled horses may charge
through wire and fencing
into the starbursting night
and onto roads
so all in all
use your judgement
and consider setting your fireworks off
inside
in one of your big, un-thought-in rooms
with off-white walls
not even an interesting off-white
but an off-white called
something like Biscotti Dream
or Colonial Mist
I mean, the flashes and concussive din
would be spectacular in there
but do check your local guidelines
to see if an even funnier method
is suggested
