peninsulas mistaken
for islands
and vice versa
the purpose
of circumnavigation
inaccurately fulfilled

having land ho
was thrilling in the extreme
excitement in the blood
distorted observation

(sunlight
of a European afternoon
on a barbarous shore)
as many conclusions
